Austin, Texas — personal, business & location sittings

Portraits made by one person, on purpose.

Tipuna Studio is a one-photographer portrait and location studio working out of a small room off Cedar Court. Every booking gets one photographer, one afternoon, and nobody else standing behind the camera.

What the studio refuses

A short list of things we do the same way every time

We shoot on a medium-format digital body, not because it photographs better in every light, but because the file holds detail at print size. That matters to the people who actually print portraits large: founders putting a face on a wall, couples framing a location series.

We won't shoot a wedding with more than sixty guests. Past that number the day turns into logistics, not portraits, and we'd rather send you to someone built for it. We don't do same-day turnaround either — editing 35 to 45 frames properly takes longer than an afternoon, and we're not going to rush it to make a deadline nobody asked us to hit.

If the light is wrong on the day, we move the session. We don't fix it in an edit later; we reschedule and shoot it right.

Selected work

Cases, written as ask, decision and result

Each finished job on the portfolio page is written up as a short case: what the client asked for, what we decided in the room, and what changed by delivery. No stock captions, no invented numbers.

How a booking runs

Scouting, the sitting, the edit, delivery

A booking starts with a short call or a written back-and-forth about what the photograph is for. If it's a location series, the spot gets scouted on foot the week before, at the same hour the shoot will actually happen, so we know exactly where the light falls. The sitting itself runs 60, 90 or 120 minutes depending on what you booked, one photographer, one afternoon, no second shooter working the room. After that the files come off the camera and go through a first pass the same week; we cut hard, because 35 to 45 chosen frames beats four thousand unsorted ones you have to sort yourself. Delivery lands in a private online gallery within ten working days of the sitting, and if you've added a printed set that adds roughly three more days for the lab.

The configurator

Build your session and see it add up before you write in

Pick a sitting type, a duration, a setting and how many people are in frame, and the tool on the full page recalculates the estimated frame count, the delivery estimate and what each choice rules in or out — live, before you send anything. Nothing on it is a price; the fee is confirmed once we reply to your inquiry.

Behind the camera

One photographer runs every part of the sitting

Tipuna Studio is one person's practice, not a studio brand with rotating shooters. She scouts the locations, sets the lights, runs the sitting, edits every frame and answers the inquiries herself. Bookings are capped at one a day on purpose — no double-booked Saturdays, no assembly-line headshot lines moving through the room every twenty minutes.
